anemone just smoked/spawned!!!

Wow, Thats cool. What is it spliting or what? Looks like hes having a great time doing whatever hes doing. Whatever it is im sure it will cause a small cycle in your tank.

whew, glad thats over, he spewed for the two nights and now hes done. They can split, but this guy was doing it the ol' fashioned way (boygirl thing)
He's a very happy dude.
I feed him about twice a week, and he eats alot...prime reef frozen cubes have a gel binder that works great for feeding them, I defrost five cubes, he eats three on his own and the other anemones get about one each (the fish take their share)
When this happened, at first i thought it was him "pooing" but nope...its much different, and MUCH messier.
I found a few articles on it and one said you can even see them spawning twenty feet into the water column, and wow, it leaves a mess in a small fish tank.

The tank is back to its happy self, i changed twenty gallons of water each night of the spawn, and the skimmer and carbon took care of the rest. Thru it all the corals seemed fine...they were a little angry at the emergency water change (i didn't have time to pre mix the water for 24hrs, it was freshly made up)
but everyone is open and happy now.

I will be watchfull of this event next year, see if it happens at the same time.
