just started salt water tank. purchesed clown fish and an anemone. the first day in quarantine tank everything was fine. then all of a sudden the anemone looked like it turned itself inside out. it had a big air pocket and was brown in color and was floating on top of tank. its tentacles looked like they were stuck inside itself and it acted like it coulndt turn itself back out. it looked totally different than it should and i thought it was dying. it stayed this way for at least 8 hrs. now it looks normal again. has anyone seen this before and could tell me what happend and why?

You said you just started the tank. How long has it been up and running.

Same question here. And what kind of lights are going, water param. Do you have any experience with saltwater or is this your first tank? Anenomes are not usually recomended for beginners. What kind of anenome? Some are much harder to keep than others.

IMO I will never keep an anemone but that's just my choice. I have heard that sometimes they will get an air pocket after introduction but I can't say for sure as I have never had one. Also they do NOT need to be added to a new tank. Only a very well established and mature tank and MUST have really good lighting. I hope it works out for you.

Welcome to 3Reef>>>>>> Excellent question about how long the tank has been up... Should be up for almost a year before a anenome should be added IMO..... I had a bta with a pair of mated clowns... The bta killed a few of my corals... Thats why I got rid of mine.. If I ever have a bta and clowns, that will be the only things in the tank.....
