i am fighting a major green hair algae problem. i have a rose tipped bubble anemone and was wondering if i could shut my lights out for 2-3 days with out harming the anemone.

I wouldn't. Instead, I'd look in to a phosban reactor with granular ferric oxide. If you starve the GHA it should die off.

I agree with this route. However you if you choose the other route there will be no problem with a 2-3 day lights out.
