i have had this anemone for about a month now and havent quite been sure exactly what type it is, i am pretty sure it is a Condy. can someone shed some light on this mystery? today i just brought home a goldbar maroon clown and a firefish (i previously just had a red mandarin and a green goby, but they stay clear of the anemone), i have been reading lots of horror stories that condies will eat any fish it can grab, and that they are terrible for corals (haven't really had any issue with that so far).
although i love the anemone in the tank, i dont want it eating up my fish. should i play it safe and get rid of it now?

It does appear to be a Condy. FWIW, all anemones have the capacity to kill and eat fish, shrimp, etc that wander into it's tentacles, or to accidentally sting corals if it moves to close to one. The Condy is no more a "predator" than any other long-tentacle anemone. Very peaceful, IME.

    Cheers

To expand on Golden Rhino's comment, Condy's and Clownfish rarely host each other either.

    cool, thanks for the info.
the anemone does add a lot to the tank and it hasn't been too much of a problem yet, so i guess i will wait it out and see. i do keep it pretty well fed (every other day or so), so hopefully that will keep it from hunting the fish.

it would be awesome of the clown hosted it, but i might just have to get a smaller bubble or something.

(everyone is alive this morning, i guess that is a good start)

I wouldn't feed it every other day but once a week as water conditions will become degraded with elevated feeding of the anemone.

Mine looks just like this and it is suppose to be a Condy. I just got it a couple days ago. Does yours shrink up to the size of a moth ball? I love it but I have heard they are hard to keep happy (alive) & I'm not sure how to feed it or how much. I seen it in the store & bought it, I know from now on to do more research before buying. I do like it though, really cool!

Sorry I didn't stay on the subject of your question, so far my fish are fine, But i only have 2 clowns, one domino damsel, one yellowtail damsel, harlequin serpent & 2 peppermint shrimp. I was worried about the peppermint shrimp bothering the anemone.

well said and well advised. Think how much food anemones get in the wild..........(probably not even near this, more like once a month or two!!)
