Bubble tip anemones often "lose" their bubbles and as far as I know, nobody has come up with a reason yet. It is not any indication of poor health though so I wouldn't worry about it.

i picked up a green bta a month ago. when i got it, the girl at the marine/coral shop (seems to know her stuff) said the same - that nobody's sure why the bubble come and go. BUT, she also said that it seems that their BTAs get bubbly when they're well-fed, and straighten out when they're more actively hunting for food. In watching mine, this seems to be the case. Every few days (2-3) it gets really straight, so i give it a sliver of scallop, and then its bubbly again a little later...

    dunno.:-/

I have been raising them for several years now. I find that they do what they want with the bubbles. Most of my older ones rarely show their bubbles anymore.
They seem sensative to alk changes/PH changes in the water. Mine will show more bubbles under more stress. But I have had some babies that seem to keep them no mater what. When the original rarely shows his bubbles. I would not try to do anything to make them have bubbles. They look good either way.
