I have been having a little phosphate issue over the last few weeks. Added GFO and been doing extra water changes.

Algae seems to be going away.

Yesterday, I added new carbon to my canister filter, thats all that runs in it,

Cleaned my skimmer entirely,( it pulled all kinds of nasty stuff the last 12 hours) vaccummed up the sand, and replaced gfo, did small about 3 gallon water change

This morning everything except my zoas and brain are completely closed up.

Normally my LTA anemone is huge in the morning, its somewhat deflate, gsp is closed, gonipora, and frog spawn are all closed solid.

    Water params are

    SG 1.026
    ammonia 0
    nitrite 0
    nitrate 0.5
    phosphate 0.5
alk 12 ( is this too high, always been this way)
    ca 460
    mg 1300

Did I do too much changing too quickly? Water was getting a yellowish tinge

Yes, it is possible to do too much at once, that's why it's important to maintain water quality at all times. If those parameters were tested today, you should be fine. Since your water was colored, however, you may need to reduce your lighting (i.e. dim LEDs or only run half your T5s) for a few days and re-acclimate everything.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Exactly, you answered your own question.

One of the only things that has been tried and true to me over the years is make one correction at a time and slowly.

    :)

Are you asking if the nem is on its way out after one day of not looking perfect?

He looks a lot less than what hes looked like,

Im wondering if I should stop the carbon, I shortened the lights by about 3 hours today

Im not really sure what to look for if they are on there way out.

Lesson learned in doing too much maintenance at once.

Your nem is a little stressed, but should be fine. Now that the tank is cleaned, it would be a moot point to shut down the canister. Just keep the lighting low and/or short until everything opens back up.
