My shrimp just molted earlyer today and i think it has just been stung by my anemone and is twitching in the corner of the tank away from the stinging jerk, do there sting kill or just stun them?

how big is your tank? You would think the shrimps would be smart enough to stay away from it.

As far as it being fatal or not, depends on how good it got him. If he JUST molted then his shell hasnt hardened up, so it might do more damage than if he hadnt just molted. I would think he would be ok after a bit.

That is a big problem with anemones. Hope all does well

Well, my anemone's are innocent. After the third shrimp started doing the same thing I figured I should test the water. We had a major salt spike. Just hope nothing else dies. I took out some of the water and added unsalted water, I hope that will do it.

That is weird, I think its more related to the salinity spike than the sting from the anemone. But then again it depends on the anemone is it a carpet anemone or a regular BTA?

I ask because normally shrimps are immune for what I have seen to BTA stings, as a matter of fact every time I feed my nem I have to keep the shrimp from crawling all over her (yes i declared it a "her") and stealing the food.

Yeah my fire and skunk cleaner shrimps used to sit and crawl all over my carpet anemone. The shrimps shell should protect them from an anemone sting because it is a contact sting, not a piercing one, no?

Secondly id be more worried about the anemone than the shrimps if you had a sg swing, nems can take time to deteriate and are exteremely sensitive to pristine water quality.

Yes, it was definately the salinity. We also lost the sebay nem, the bibble tip still looks good. How long till I know for sure it will survive the spike of last wednesday? I'll be so relieved when the aftermath is done & I don'thave to worry quite so much any more.
