(in light of my Ocellaris hosting my pissed off Goniopora, thinking of swapping it out for a BTA, my first attempt at nem keeping)

Amid all the "Don't do it" & "you'll regret it" advice of numerous SW enthusiasts around the world, I am still interested in trying a BTA. Now, I know us humans always seem to do the opposite of what we're told because the curiousity gets us in the end. I believe deep down we all feel we'll be "the exception" to the negatives of certain things.

So, I want to hear some positive success stories of those that tried their hand at keeping a BTA in their reef tanks (and I know there's gotta be many that have tried). I'm also open to the "don't do it man!" advice, but again, I'm a curious monkey and will probably have to learn the hard way :)!

Also interested to know if my Koralia Evo's will be ok with a BTA, or could they still get sucked in even with the pre-built screen?

P.S. how many of you spell it "Anenome", I always make that mistake d'oh

I have had as many as 4 BTA's in my 200g reef tank.

I only have 3 now as I sold a RBTA clone a little while ago.

Once they are in a spot they are happy with, they won't move. Then you just need to give them enough room so they don't sting/ kill corals.

An ocellaris will likely not host a BTA.

Any anemone will get sucked into any power head with or without screens. I lost one to a Koralia 1. Luckily it didn't nuke my tank.

I bought a BTA for my ocellaris. Id didn't even look at it twice. I had to buy a tomato clown to get some hosting action.

I know it's extremely hit or miss with the clown/nem combo. Do you think that my clown is more likely to host a nem since it's hosting a gonio now?

Don't the ocellaris host carpet anemones (or is that clarkii) or is it the Magnificents? If you're going to try with an anemone you might as well try with one your clowns have a good chance of hosting.

I have had a BTA for only 3 mons now, but I have had good success. I love it changing and moving all the time. I feed it only once a week, and make sure you get whatever it might spit out so it doesn't cause your amonia to spike.
Mine picked a spot the first night, hanging upside down from a hole in a rock and has never moved since. I moved other coral to accomidate the BTA so he wouldn't sting them. He stretches to unbelievable lengths when he wants to be in the light around the top of the rock. Quite amazing to see.
I say go for it, you never know until you try!!!!

Carpets are fish killers though & the Magnificents are uber tough to keep. I was trying to see if anyone had success with a BTA and Ocellarish, I know it's not impossible, just wondering how probable.

    Thanks!
