If the anemone is on a rock, and the rock is placed near other rocks, it will be very unlikely that the anemone would detach completely and have any chance of getting shredded.

If you can keep the foot out of the flow, and the tentacles are allowed to get into the flow, it might not move at all.

i have two ocellaris clowns that host my BTA. However, i bought the three together and they were already hosting. so when i introduced them to the tank, they just picked up where they left off at the LFS. Mine don't stray too far from the nem.

I had my GBTA for 3 years and never had it ever get near my Seio or Koralia. Like Horkn said, if they are happy, they will not move. Make sure you have enough rock for it to hide its foot and it will be fine.
Mine only moved once, after my HQI bulb burned out (defective) it crawled up to my return line hoping to get closer to where the light was, near surface of the water. Originally I had a 10000K bulb but purchased a 14000K to replace the broken one and my nem HATED the new bulb. The size shrunk (down to a size of a quarter) and it faded a bit. Then my maroon ate it. :furious3:

One of my RBTA's just split again. This time for certain it was because I feed them.

Don't they split because of stress. ln hopes that the clone can survive somewhere else in the ocean?

They split for that reason, but not that reason alone. They also split to simply reproduce when happy and established.

Yes and no. If you feed them a lot and they grow a lot as a result, they can hit mass quantity and split because the quantity of food and light is no longer sufficient for them to support their mass. This is not something that only happens with anemone's. Google polyp bailout and read the articles of LPS that do it. Polyp bailout also happens with SPS.

Look at Cnidarians as a whole. Why would it be a good thing if it happens in one Family and/or Genus but it's a bad thing if it happens out of a different Family or Genus? It's because it's not. Polyp bailout/splitting is to SURVIVE! It is not because they are happy. Give me an anemone....I can make it split in 2 days. (I don't do this BTW....however, I could. I know how to make clams spawn, I know how to make anemones split, I know how to make LPS pop off polyps. I'm not going to put it on the Internet because I know darn well someone is going to try it. Here's a hint.....you make them "think" they are going to die and stress the living daylights out of them). Anemone's don't split because they are happy.

I'll be getting a very nice RBTA this weekend, crossing my fingers that I will have a nem success story and not an ASAP thread posted by next week :).

    wish me luck!
