anemone vs power head.... ouch

Good luck with the anemone acenia, hope it pulls through for you.

I lost my anemone to a powerhead so no more anemones for me. My clown is hosting the skimmer sponge on my main tank and in the other tank my cinamon clown is hosting some polyps.

I had one that suffered the same fate!!!!HOWEVER... I basically left it after shutting off the powerhead to see if it would remove itself on its own. Sure enough, it did, after a couple hours. It looked shriveled up and like yours, had some tentacles removed. That was 8 months ago, and it has rejuvinated and has grown bigger since that time and shows no signs of injury-on top of that my Clown now calls it home after two years of showing no interest in the anemone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are certain things that she shouldn't be playing with; MY camera, MY remote, MY tools. The rest she can do with as she chooses.

As for the anemone, it looks better already. It is missing some tentacles, but there seems to be less damage than i thought when i found it this morning. It's foot was on the glass so it didnt get shredded, only it's tentacles. Ill post a pic when i have a minute.

that f@#$% anemone went in our new PH. it got banged up pretty bad but its still alive. i put it in a plastic glass in the tank so it doesn't to much water flow because its foot is hurt pretty bad. i was wondering how often should i change the water in the glass?

 

You're going to have to cover your powerhead intakes if you want to avoid this happening again. The anemone must have decided to move to a new location because of the additional/different water flow that the new powerhead put out. Is the glass that the anemone is in sealed shut or something?

 

Its the my new tunze nanostream so its kind of hard to cover up the intake :-/

Yeah its a regular plastic drinking glass filled with tank water attached to the side of the tank, so no water coming in or out. I have some qt boxes somewhere, i could use that if you think its better than the glass.

I would use the qt boxes just so you can get some water flowing around the anemone while it's healing (I'm assuming that these boxes have slats or something to allow water to flow through?)

You are going to need to water flow as they require pretty pristine water quality to survive! They will pollute the water quite quickly as well that is why you will need to constantly add clean water into the glass if you chose to keep it in there however, I would remove the glass as your chances of the anemone coming back will decline due to the stress of being cooped up in a glass.
A better idea may be to place rocks around the anemone for a while thus allowing the anemone constant water movement and good water quality!
Monitor the anemone as well and I wouldn't worry about trying to feed it as it will need all its strength to recover...
