For several months I had a healthy anemone. Always attached to rocks and moving around the tank. About a month ago it seemed to lose its ability to stick to rocks...now he seems withered he floats around the bottom with the current and isn't thriving. What going on?

I should add it's a 100 gallon tank, the water tests are fine...the tank is mature and has adequate lighting, with moderate water flow...temp generally doesn't drop below 79 or raise above 82.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
What type of anemone and lighting please.

That is a very bad sign in anemones, usually it mean impending demise.

Have you added anything like GFO?

    Are you dosing?

Are clowns residing in the anemone?

I think its called a pacific (or atlantic) long tentacle anemone...it has a red base (that seems almost sealed now- but was open before) and long white tentacles (when it was healthy)... the lighting is halide and LED, and florescent...
I had a clown in a long time ago, he was very aggressive so I moved him to another tank...but it was actually getting stung a lot by this particular anemone...so i got him a bubble tip that seems better for the clown...
Anyway...not sure what GFO is....we do use some other kent marine essential elements, O2 elements (iodine)...

    So if he's doomed...what happened?

Probably should not be dosing iodine unless you test for it.

GFO is a medium you can use to remove phosphates.

You can try making a depression in the sand in an area of low flow and see if it attaches.

If it continues to just float around I would remove it.

I'm sure what happened is a loaded question? Is there anything i can do to help it come back?

He looks like crap...all grey and wilty....My tank is over a year old...i've had him for about 8 months...he was full and flowing and doing great, mostly staying in the same spot...attached to a reef rock top...and all the sudden he started to move around and within a month started to stay out of site..on the ground of the tank....all other corals and fish, snails, crabs doing great...everything else seems just as it should be...ammonia and nitrates at 0...

Sorry i missed your response before I posted...the O2 was really for the corals and really perked them up...but the anemone was already going down hill at that point.

    What are your phosphate levels?

I had an anemone act similar to this that was reacting to high phosphate levels you may want to test that and if needed lower them although it may be too late for this little guy

    What about alk or pH?

Maybe someone else will chime in that has had anemone recover from this but to me it does not sound good.

Are you sure it was not a Condylactis Anemone, being on top of the rock work sounds much more like a Condy than an LTA, also most clowns will not reside in a Condy because it delivers such a powerful sting.

Have you changed out your bulbs in the last year? Do you know the name of the fixture?

Sorry for all the questions but it's almost impossible to trouble shoot the issue without a ton of information.
