    Hi There,

I was hoping someone could help me.

I started my marine tank Dec 2009. When I put some live rock and saw that little critters were present I was ecstatic!! The Glass anemones looked fab and I was disappointed when told that these would have to go by my lfs (how much have i learned since then!!)

one of the "hitch hikers" was a rather cute looking "coral"

This little guy slowly grew over around 14 Months - very pleased with my little freebie. I came home one day, looked in my tank and then there were 2! I kept a closer eye after this and, sure enough it decided to split again - 3 large ones remaining!

I had asked my lfs about this and they believed that it was a coral, until i took a photo in today! She is now concerned that she can not identify this. It eats brine shrimp and she has said that it could potentially be a threat to my fish.

If anyone canID this anemone I would appreciate it.

    Regards

    Becky

    Hi again,

Following war and peace i had another look around and think i have answered my own question. Think this is a Majano Anemone - a repeat of my glass anemone love affair - yay!

    Welcome to 3reef Becky.

I believe you answered your own question, I was going to go with majano as well, but I need a size ratio for comparison.

Really a majano? I must admit I have never seen one like that. Very interesting - how big are they? Almost look like a mutant toadstool LOL

I have seen some really beautiful majano. Ones that resemble silver dollar sized green BTA and rose BTA. In fact we were once joking about starting a Majano farm they were so pretty. But they spread and killed corals, kind of lost the attraction after that.

With that said, when I had my first tank back in the 1980's, I was amazed and very pleased to be growing aiptasia and hydroids.
