I bought a Sebae a couple month's ago, he has never done very well. It is regaining his tan color except has gotten a black around the mouth and never open's up. It eat's when fed but stay's shriveled up for the most part. I have a Rose Anemone that is doing great so I do not understand why the Sebae would'nt be thriving also. I tested my water a few day's ago and don't have the reading's but the water is fine and am in ther proccess of switching to Red Sea from Instant Ocean. My light's are a 6 bulb T-5 over A 55 GALLON TANK So the light's arent aN issue except the bulbs are about 7 month's old. The are 3 10K and 3 450nm. thnx for your time. (the Sebae problem started long before the water switch) My W.C. are 5 to 10 G's weekly.
    Thnx for your time

My understanding is that bulb anemones are easier to care for then other types of Anemones. Have you tested water recently? I know they are not very tolerant of most water issues.

If a healthy specimen is obtained it can do well in captivity, but Sebae Anemones are known to suffer from shipping stress and will often releases their zooxanthalle in transport. Sometimes, to enhance their appeal, captive specimens are bleached out so they are also white in color. If they are white, their chances of survival are slim. Some predators can be other anemones, nudibranchs, sea stars and some angelfish. Bristle worms also have been known to irritate and chew at H. crispa.

Sebae's are hard to keep in captivity!

    Good Luck!

I have a Pygmy Cherub and a orange and brownish colored starfish and tons of asterina stars and tons of bristleworms so I dont know what would be the prob. I knew they were the harder to keep so I will look for ore input and keep a close eye on him and if he gets to sad looking I add toss him. thnx
