My BTA got some of its tentacles sucked up in the canister filter intake. I turned the filter off firstly. Should I just wait and let him dislodge himself from the little slits, or should I help it?

Ooh roughness.. Make sure you watch him after he gets out.
This is the typical demise of a nem.. and more often than not a tank.
They are full of toxins. Lucky you caught it early.
As far as pulling him out.. I am not sure how bad stuck it is but if its feasible you can remove him.

why did he move...usually move when water parems are off. They are very, very hard to keep What kind of lights do you have and how old is your tank?

Glad you got it out before it wiped out your entire tank

Agreed with the above.. need to figure out why he is moving. If he gets caught in there again and doesnt make it.. he will pollute your tank possibly taking everything with it

IMO I WOULD REMOVE IT ASAP FROM TANK!!! I loved mine but if you go tho my nano tank thread you will see what happened to mine. Mine got sucked up somewhere between midnight and 1 ish and stayed there all night and finally died and took about 100 dollars of livestock with it. Thats jsut in a 5 gallon nano. I had great lights and good params just moved every now and then.

    P.S. Just my honest opinion.

I have a year old 20g tank with 150W Metal Halide. It just recently about a month ago and one half has found a hole in the rock and never moved and the other half is moving all over the place.

Take it and set it on the substrate and let him come out on his own....

I thought a 150w mh on a 20g would be a lot of light. Do a lot of people run that strong of a light on such a small tank?
