They can be. I had mine for 2 years before it just disappeared one day. It was perfectly fine one night, I woke up to feed my fish before going to work the next day and it was gone. I figured it just moved, but I looked over every rock and it was just gone. I still have no clue what happened to it. My clown decided to use a patch of hair algae as a bed to sleep on after the anemone disappeared, pretty sad if you ask me.

They also need iodine. I dose my tank once a week with Lugol's solution. Just two drops because it is highly concentrated (follow the dosing directions on the bottle). I have a Sebae that I bought on discount (it was small and bleached out completely). It is now occupying the entire right hand corner of my tank. The thing about their moving around is that it is completely up to them where they want to be. They will not remain where you put them if they do not want to be there. Avoid moving it yourself, because it will not feed if it is walking around trying to find a place to settle. Do test your water parameters though, because they are very sensitive.

Well, if you have a clownfish that is hosting it, he will bring it scraps of food. They are also photosynthetic. My clown doesn't feed mine at all, and it is still quite fine. I feed my entire tank with Marc Weiss' Reef Bugs. It comes in a box that costs $20 at my LFS. I only do it every three days or so, because it's pretty powerful stuff...but my livestock loves this stuff. Everything in the tank eats it, because it's a mix of different planktons that reconstitute (come alive) when you put them in sea water.

I just shut off my uv sterilizer for about an hour or so, then put in the reef-bugs--just enough to make the water a little cloudy...everything goes crazy!!

You need to start running as much carbon as possible ASAP. Set up a QT if possible as well. You do realize when an anemone dies in the tank it realeses toxins that may kill everything else in there, right?
