so Ive tried shoving the LTA into a crevice, low flow corner, lower light, higher light, and always moved all the sand out of the way to bare glass. foot wont attach. Ive tried slightly buying it as well. It has moved a few times back and forth. I cant have that happening to much. any ideas? I have it sandwiched with two rocks on bare glass bottom right now.

That is the problem with LTA, they are very picky about the substrate and probably one of the last anemones I would recommend, because of this.

Trying to place them somewhere is really pointless and not good for the anemone and can cause injuries.

If you have not had this anemone long I would return it and get an easier anemone like a BTA or Sebae.

Sorry I know those are probably not the answers you wanted but I am just being honest.

Seriously.... Sebaes have one of the worst track records for survival.

BTAs are a great anemone to have. The will move initially, but normally settle in one spot for a very long time.

As for your LTA.... what I did was make a small cage out of egg crate. I place it over the LTA on the sand bed, next to my rockwork. It gives it a chance to grab a hold without being swept away in the current. I removed the cage 2 days later after I saw it opening up fully.

You shouldn't try to stick it anywhere. It really doesn't matter what kind of anemone you get, they will go where they feel comfortable, whether you like it or not. If you keep messing with it, its just gonna stress, release its toxins and die taking the majority of your tank with it. How old is your system? I really hope you did serious research on anemones before deciding to keep one.
I second no sebae, they are about the hardest anemone to keep imho.

I just picked up my first nem a few weeks ago, perhaps 5 wks or so. LTA. There is no point in trying to place them anywhere as everyone has said they will go where they want. You sorta have to be ok with where they settle. I like it and really like to keep the tank as natural as possible (within reason). So where ever the inhabitants choose to stay - they stay. He's not been difficult to care for at all. Already doubled in size (from what he appeared to be at the LFS). Tentacles are getting longer, thicker, and richer in color. I hand feed one piece of chopped raw shirmp weekly. He is always full - body extended and plump looking. Happy camper from what I understand.

You need to return the anemone asap. Your system is WAY too young to keep an anemone.

Not going to work in a newly cycled tank IMO. Yes cool, but requires an established system, and LTA's need a some what deeper sandbed. So it being on the bottom on the glass sounds less then ideal.

I'm pretty sure that was a sarcastic comment.
