    My nitrates have been at 20 for 6 months, and it didn't seem to bother my first anemone (a Heteractus). (I'll admit that my second (a Condylactus) didn't last two months. It could have been the nitrates.) Anemones are, however, sensitive to pH changes and to salinity dropping below 1.021. I keep my tank at pH 8.2 and salinity at 1.023-1.024.
