I have a 125 gallon tank and added a Coral Beauty about a couple of weeks ago. He was doing fine, eating, harassing other fish, etc. as long ago as yesterday. This morning, I find him dead hidden behind some of my rocks, and interestingly enough he seems to have a cut in his belly (some of his guts were coming out). I did a recent water parameter check this Sunday, and everything was fine (0ppm Ammonia, 0 ppm Nitrite, 10 ppm Nitrates). Could he have somehow cut himself on the rocks (i have the fancy Fiji dead coral rocks)?!! :(
Only other fish i have in there are 2 clowns and 4 chromis... :(

I don't think that any of those tank mates could have done what you describe, maybe there is something in your tank you don't know about?

Do you have crabs? Also, it may be a little extreme but if it had ich it could've cut itself while trying to rub off the ich.

    Always an awkward question ;)

How long has the tank been set up, and have you heard any noises? You should check for something in the tank that may not be so welcome, especially if other fish start disappearing too! Good luck.

I only have the blue dwarf crabs, but those are really small. The tank is about 4-5 months old now, and the rocks were complete dead before (air dried dead for several months) so i don't think any hitchhikers could of gone on. I checked for ich, but didn't see any white spots or signs he had problems. :(
