Angels and Corals

I know that they dont mix well but I have a flame angel that I really like. Here is the problem. He seems to go around picking at my zooanthids. He doesnt bite them but opens his mouth and inhales closely to them. What is he doing? Is this going to cause damage to the coral?

 

Keep an eye on him, he could be a nipper.

Although the behavior sounds like he could just be eating the detris or something yummy off it. I recall seeing that with my CB I think.

I have had good luck with Coral Beauties - but others have not.

Dwarf angels seem to be a roll of the dice.

my flame angel seems to be reef friendly.he doesnt do anything to any coral of any kind.he only eats small algae growth on some of them or the food that made it to the bottom.so maybe yours is doing the same.

 

We have a Coral Beauty in our 29 and a two colored pygmy in our 72 and so far so good. They are always on the hunt picking at the rock. I am with Matt it is a roll of the dice,though...8)

 

I have a Coral Beauty and after about 4-5 months the only thing its nipped at is a yellow gorgonian. I dont think any damage has been done. So far so good.

The Angels are some beautiful fish.

 

i've had a flame angel, coral beauty, and a potter angel, only one to give me problems was the potters ate all my zoa's, then karma came and my bubble coral ate the potter angel.
