angler ate sand

I just got a new angler sat. Been trying to get it eating frozen and looking in his mouth he's got sand in it.can't see how much but I have caribasea black and white mix.is this harmful? What if anything can I do?

 

Did you let him out of the water at any point?

 

No unless he was out during shipping but he Is swimming and perching fine.

 

Oh well anglers are weird. It could be bloat, I originally thought it was trying to weigh itself down.

 

I only see it in its mouth....last time I watched it eat it was stalking. A molly near the sand bed.then they went behind a rock.I think that's when it happend.

 

No worries. Anglerfish eat sand just like gobys do from time to time. It will dig a small cavity sometimes in the open and sit behind a small mound.

 

O fwew that's a relief.is it normal for him to keep the sand in his mouth all day? Idk if its in his stomach or not,can't see that far.

 

Just to give you guys an update the angler seems to be fine.it ate a live killy yesterday and is going about his usual business of looking like a rock lol
