I decided to feed the Mantis some frozen shrimp today in hopes to keep him preoccupied so that I could feed the sun coral in peace.

    Here is the video:

For those of you wondering; Yes...that smacking noise you hear is the mantis hitting the stick to free the shrimp.

Yup. The mantis doesn't seem to interested in the fish. He's made a few attempts, but nothing with effort.....Yet...

Not bad considering it is shipped for that cost.

Typically at the LFS they sell for around 20 and up.

Two videos total; Make sure your volume is on and up and that you watch in HD.

First video is introducing the crab:

Peacock Mantis and Emerald Crab - YouTube

Unfortunately, I dropped the crab too close to his cave. As you can see, he was very quick to respond and attack it. After many quick hits (you can hear them all on the video) he then begins to carry it around like a trophy.

Second video is the Mantis with the crab...carrying it like a prize:

Peacock Mantis and Emerald Crab - The Aftermath - YouTube

At this point, he is still carrying it around and beating it every now and then. I expect to find missing limbs as the day progresses.

So I got home from work and went to the LFS right up the road from me in search of more emerald crabs.

They had what appeared to be 1 in stock, but it was dead and I wasn't paying $10 for a dead one (or a live one for that matter).

Anyways, as I was getting ready to leave, something caught my eye in another tank. A freshwater tank...

    I purchased 4 of them!

Guess who is getting a fiddler crab to destroy (I mean eat) tomorrow!
