I went to this "pet" shop in Americus...
and it was horrible.. we got out soon..
then we decided to go back and take some video so we could report them to the animal cruelty.. ( idk how to do that so can you guys possibly help me?)...

we dont know if we should report them or not.. so thats why i posted it here and get some advice on the matter.

when we got there it was still kinda bad, but not as horrible as it was the day before.. There was a dog that was bleeding the first day we went, and when we went back it wasnt there anymore..

Pet store said it was sold..... ( we think it might of died since we dont see the place full of customers)

    so here is the video..

honestly it looks like a normal pet store that you would find in the mall besides the shabby tanks

That is really sad :( Especially the guinea pigs in the tiny tanks...

I'm pretty sure that animal cruelty cases are reported to your local police. I would also report them to the BBB.

I'm with drew, while it may not be the most organized pet store, it doesn't look like cruelty to me.

    1) You would need to contact your HSPCA.

    2) While you may not agree with the way some of the animals are kept, as long as they have clean food and water available nothing is going to happen. The only time things do occur is if the HSPCA is told that there are animals dead, dieing, or malnourished in the store and they send an undercover shopper to see what is going on. if the animals are being treated poorly, they will call the local law enforcement agency and have them meet the HSPCA officer in charge of the case to make sure the shop owners and workers don't get physical. The store can receive fines and lose its business license depending on the offenses. if the store is extremely dirty, call a health inspector about it. They will also fine the piss out of the store.

looks fairly typical to me....as far as pet stores go. the biggest thing i noticed was the lovebirds cage. i have kept birds and they are not happy just sitting on a box. they need wood perches...toys....mirror....space.

I am a huge animal lover. That makes me sad. I would report it. If nothing happens, then okay. But at least you will feel good that you did something about it. I agree it looks like a pretty typical, but run down, pet store. But if reporting it makes you feel better, than do it. Nothing bad will come of it.

One time I drove past this house that had a bunch of goats in a nasty, nasty yard. Junk everywhere, no grass for them to eat...ugh it was terrible. I called it in. A week later I went driving past and the goats were gone. I felt really good about that!!

i am not able to see the video here at work but I have reported my former LFS (who was also where i used to work at) to the Humane Society. Long story short, he closed the store without any notification to his employees or customers a couple days before Christmas, had the electricity turned off and left half his inventory in the store with no circulation and no power in the middle of winter.

I called them and reported him to them, they did come out and do an investigation the same day.

if you think there is abuse or neglect, it will do no harm to report them to the Humane Society, they were very very thankful and nice when i called!
