Just got home and noticed my anemone is about 1/8th it's size and was trying to crawl under a rock...

Here is it's pic. We have had her for 2 weeks now, all water chem's are perfect too.

I looked around to make sure it did not split or something, but I don't see anything. My scooter seems normal, just doing his thing in the sand and swimming up to look at himself in the mirror.

Should i get it out of the tank or ??

Here is a shot of it from this morning.. (yea, I'm taking morning and night pics.. don't make fun of me... lol)

It's on the same rock as this morning but I had to pick the rock up and lay it on it's side so you could see it.

    few questions,
    1. How old is the tank
    2. How big is the tank
    3 What type of lighting
    4. Is there enough flow for it where it is?

    Since this post,
the inner tentacles are now a brighter green and have gotten very skinny. The outer tentacles are still looking good.

    1. How old is the tank
Ran with water and sand for 2 months,
Rock for 8 days - then added her

    2. How big is the tank
    Nano- 10g

    3 What type of lighting
    10k 50/50 x2

    4. Is there enough flow for it where it is?
Using a 120gph power head, she has moved like 5 times in the past 3days and the last time it moved she has the MAX flow where I actually felt like it was going to blow her away.

unfortunate to say, but your guess is as good as mine... I have tried to look her up everywhere I can but I can't find a type ..

The tentacles are clear with a green shade and the base of it is a strawberry color. It looks like she is pulling herself into the rock.....

I just don't want to lose everything, that's why i hit the asap part of the site. TY for your assistance thus far.

    1. Tank is no where near ready for an anemone
    2. Depending on what type of anemone it may out grow its tank VERY soon
    3. Depending on the tank depth pc lighting may not be enough
    4. Some anemones move to the optimal flow for them, then need lots, but not blasted.

To wrap it up, I think you tank is a little immature, small, and lacking in adequate lighting for an anemone, they can be very tricky beast.

As for whats going on now, they do periodically withdraw and it could be fine, unfortunatly there is no way to tell as far as i know if its just withdrawing for the night, or dying.

Thank you for the reply, my neighbor is a professor at the UofA and he is the one that helped me setup this tank. Unfortunate for me, his marine biologist credentials are not helping me when he is not at home..

We just ran the "stink" test and "sticky" test and she has no foul smell and her tentacles are sticky and not slimy. I'm going to hold out for another hour or two and see if he get's home and help me out with this .

He had this tank running before we moved it to our house. Well, we moved the sand/water and put it in my tank and then he pulled items over to the tank each day for about a week till it had it's current look.

He assured me that everything was good to go with this setup and that we should literally have nothing to worry about while we educate and learn it.

    thnkx again!
