Yea, we feed it every 2 days. First thing in the morning - about 1 hour after the lights come on. Shrimp is what we have been feeding it.

Looking at it, I would guess it's a Condylactis gigantea (Condy). I have one also. During the first few weeks, it moved around, closed up, opened up, closed up....you get the picture. Your tank is a little young for an anenome. And mine was too. In fact, I did not even let mine cycle before I got her. They say you have to have pristine water conditions for anenomes and for the most part they are right. But the one you have, I have put through the ringer via sheer ingnorance.

When you feed it, it will look weird. Not healthy at all. A few days later it will poop. It will look worse.......except this time there is poop coming out it's mouth....anus......whatever.

They do like flow. They do demand good water conditions. They want very good lighting. I don't know if the 50/50 will do it. I have PCs and I feel that I am not doing her justice......but she is doing fine.

What do they look like when they are dying? Don't really know. But mine has pulled itself into holes in rocks as well, I think it is just exploring it's environment. Mine has moved all over the tank. Get into my picture gallery and see if my girl looks like yours.

    Later dude.......and good luck. John.

That's what I feed mine. Once a week. And that is probably too much.

Dude, I would back off on the feeding to once a week. They don't need a terrific amount of food. Cuttingras told me here recently that the mouth will get larger when it gets hungry. Something like that. I have never paid attention. My boy looooovvvves to feed it, so whether it likes it or not, every Sunday, it gets two halves of silverside.

I think that is why it looks bad most of the time. It is digesting. A lot. I'll bet that if you back off on the feeding it will look a lot better.

Good news, he came home.. LOL

Apparently this one split from one of his which he states he just put it in the "long tentacle" and never finished researching it. He took a look and said that "More or less, she is doing what we would call a 'water change' and cleaning out. Don't worry about the size and just keep an eye on her color. If her base starts to go clear, flush her."

    so yea,
TY for the ASAP help folks. I was a tad worried.

Wife just woke me up, she does not want the stress of the lil'girl so we 'fished' it out and took it next door where our neighbor said he would gladly watch over it for us. That was fun.

She is sticking with her corals and told the neighbor to keep that stuff away from her tank. LOL -

Thanks for all the input tho, it's really nice to be here. Beats getting yelled at - by some of the other forums I have visited.

Anemones are very specific when it comes to their needs. Typically require lots of light (Do some research on different types of anemones- there are some that require less than others), also require a good amount of flow. Some anemones require other specific needs, such as LTA (long tentacle anemones) which like to burrow their foot for protection, requiring very deep sand beds or intricate rockwork that they can jam their foot in. Even when you think you have all the water conditions perfect, they will still get up and move around 6 months or so down the road, often stinging many of the precious coral around the reefwork. (This is why most people stay away from them). But regardless, a learning experience all together; welcome to 3reef :)
