    :shocked2:Wow HE passed TOO?!
I don't know about the rest of you but I'm a little miffed that MJ is stealing all of the media from Farrah, Billy and Ed. I didn't even know Ed had passed away.
And Poor Farrah died before MJ but I know people who didn't even find out about her until a few days later.:(

MJ made my life (and thousands of other lives) miserable for one day. This is the Anthrax story that never got told. The Pentagon mailroom in Skyline has a sniffing machine that can detect Anthrax. It said that a piece of mail had it. They shut the whole place down, turned off all ventilation, and announced over the speaker system that no one was to leave their office. To enforce that order, there were National Guard people with big long guns and gas masks at every elevator and stairway on all of the floors. They didn't want the anthrax on us or our bodies to infect anyone else on the subway or busses or cars. (In effect, if it had been true, they were signing our death warrants).

No one worked. We were all starving but they wouldn't let us go to the cafeteria or vending machines. We were sweating like pigs but we were all huddled around the office TV hoping for just a little piece of information. However, what happened in reality is that the news talked about the Michael Jackson trial for hours upon hours upon hours. Then a small blurb came out. Oh, by the way, Anthrax has been detected at 2 DOD mailrooms. Then they went back to talking about MJ. That was a rough day. anthrax skyline - Google Search

You say, you don't remember hearing about this incident. There's a reason for that. The media found the MJ trial more interesting than 10,000 people who were scared out of their wits.

So was it MJ or the media who made your life/day misserable? Sounds like the media to me... and another thing, if the media did cover the whole anthrax story in detail and for hours, would that have made your life easier?
btw, I remember that story very well.. don't remember much about MJ's trial, didn't care.. don't mind him personally.

You are correct. The media did a bad job and it wasn't MJ's fault.

They suspected early in the day that it was a false alarm. It would have been cool for both myself and our employees that a false alarm was a possibility. But we weren't told that because MJ was more important. Looking out through our glass doors we see people with guns and gas masks. They let us out floor by floor. Because I was only on 7, I got to get out around 9:45. I feel sorry for the people on the upper floors.

Completely agree with you on the media being completely inadequate.. they show what people (most of who are completely inadequate) want to see or hear. I remember that day, the TV at work is on all day all.. I just wanted to point out that MJ himself had no power over what was being aired - actually he'd prefer if they didnt even cover him at all.
    Which you agreed with :)
Sorry you had to go through all that, btw..

I believe it definitely would have made his life easier. I'd feel much better if I was locked in a room surrounded by men with guns and gas masks if I knew exactly what was going on and when I'd be free, rather than sit there not knowing what the heck was happening.

We had a bomb threat at the Tennessee Aquarium a few weeks ago, and we had to evacuate the whole building. Then, all of us employees begin what turns out to be several hours sitting on a sidewalk not knowing what's happening. Our only shred of information came from radio transmissions we recieved, and that's about it. My mom knew more than I did because of what was on TV...I would have felt much better knowing what was going on, and I would have felt the best possible if I was in there with the guys searching.
