Well it's a new year and an old question.Actually I am looking for advise deciding between the reef octopus BH1000 and BH90,I'm leaning toward the BH90 due to it's conical chamber design but haven't been able to find much on the webb about it other than the basics, size pump ect.I f any of you have exsperience with either of these please share, thanks! BTW, this is for a 40breeder,sumpless.

How about Eshopps? Any PSK75 or PSK100 owners?

I have both! PSK-75H on my JBJ 28 nano and PSK-100H on my 46 bow. Very happy with both and the amount of skimmate they produce. They are a set it once and forget it skimmer, as long as you keep your sump or tank level the same. They come with a filter on the discharge, which I would likely say to remove as if this gets clogged, it will make the skimmer overflow. I replaced my Coralife Super Skimmer with one, and I am a million times happier with it!

Some feedback about AuqaC Remora HOB skimmer I been running for 2 years.

It works well, but is very noisy. Whats weird is that it's not the pump that makes all the noise, it's the skimmer body/reaction chamber. I tried 2 different pumps, same results.

The collection cup has a drain that i have hooked up to some clear hose going into bigger bucket under my stand. I like that a lot, as i dont have to empty the cup all the time. I just empty the bucket once every week or so.

The pre-skimmer box accessory is a must, as it lets you skim water from the surface where most of the build up is anyway. But your water level has to be steady, or you'll end up adjusting the box. Too deep and it does not skim as efficiently. To high, and it will run dry.

I have the reef octopus 1000 as well and have been happy with it....it is quiet but it does seem to need a lot of tweaking with the cup placement....it might be a tad big for a 40.

Thank you all.Marshal,do you think the PSK-75H would be enough for a 40b or would the 100be better. Also how quiet are they?

Depends on the bio-load I would think. Low, go for the 75; medium or high, go for the 100 (its only a few dollars more anyways). The only skimmer I have to compare it to is a Coralife Super Skimmer 65, which it is definitely quieter than. It is definitely the loudest component of the tank, but we have one in our bedroom tank and does not bother us at all.
