Well as my tank is progressing so is my thinking. I went to a LFS the other day and saw an Aquastyle kit the owner was stringing together for one of the new tanks hes puttin in the shop. Saw em in action and it leaned me that much further into getting the ball rolling on getting a reef lighting system that will grow coral, look nice, and save electricity. So heres my thinking.

    Aquastyle
90 LED kit with 45 10K whites, 42 Royal Blue, and 3 UV.
    and (2X) 19.8"x7.7" Heat sink

all over my 75 gallon tank. Came up with 4 layouts that im not sure which would be best, any input to them would be greatly appreciated. They are in order of the one i would most likly chose, to the one that i wouldnt, but all could be considered. Im just going on what looks like it might produce the best spread and light usage.

(note that this is with 2 UV's, obviiously i would only have 1 to put on the other heatsink, and i would also have an extra white on one as well, but blues will be even on both.

nothing is for sure, im not even sure when ill have the money to buy them, along with keeping up with the other things the tank requires, so this could be a lengthy process(as is/was my tank lol)

    Thanks for looking.

honestly bro, i'd tweak the leds variety before id worry about the layout. I'd do more blues reds and violets.

    Like:
30 whites (20 cw, and a mix of the rest)
    45 blues(vary them)
and 15 violets, reds and cyans

    all dimmable

That will give you're tank a better look, IMO

I have a 24 dimmable led kit from them with 10 blue 10 (10k) 2 red and 2 uv. the color is great! I have seen unbelievable growth out of all my coral in 2 months. I have a favia that has grown the same amount in 2 months under LEDs then it did for 6 months under t5ho. Everything has more color.

Now that light is on a 75 gal and going to make a 36 kit for the other side so I can keep rbta, gbta, and Sps

I would think 90 LEDs over a 75 gal is overkill.

I emailed Rapid LED staff@rapidled.com and they responded in less then two hours. I have a 150 gal and Im going to be growing SPS. They recommended a 72 bulb set up for my tank.

Have a look and see what you think, their prices are fair and it seems their customer service is on point.

Preciate the feedback Cosmo. Ill look into how much swithing some led colors will be when I get off work.

    I planned on dimmable already.

What would you say about the lay out in general. With some diff colors but same general placement, what would you say? Is it better to spread them evenly, or cluster a few colors together?

That's cuz they run crees which are a morpowerful led compared
To the bridgelux the aqua uses. I think 90 is a good amount I can dim if needed and raise the heats sinks to my liking

Thanks for that pic man that's how I was thinkin of doing it at first. You think If yuo clustered 3 together it would give a better result? Or are you set on that lay out for the other side as well?

True True, either way it will look pretty sick when you get it finished.

Yeah I Preciate the input tho Ive priced out a 48 kit from them. I mean I like the powerful crees and the meanwells, its all top notch stuff but more $.but I'm almost certain with more of them it will make up the gap it lacks with power. I could always get mean wells added to the bridgelux if I need to.

IF needed I would get Cree whites added on later, but i dont think it'll be necessary.

I can't wait till I get closer to the day this becomes a reality. I love the way leds look.
