i never had any problems with caulerpa, but i was able to find chaetomorph locally so i got some and switched just in case. it wasn't worth risking a huge algae out break. but i am sure you will be fine. i also use mangroves but i don't really know of the capacity of nutrient export they are capable of. although latley my chaeto hasn't been growing as fast but the mangroves are growing larger.

it can take over a tank in a short amount of time if it goes sexual. I left for vacation and came back a week later and the tank with full.

Asexual. And when it does it releases toxins which can crash your tank. A lot of people keep it their fuge but when I read about this possibilty I had cheato in my fuge the next day. I can also run a 24 hour light cycle on cheato in my fuge. I have heard this can make Caulerpa turn Asexual.

I think you got your definitions mixed up....

Asexual is lacking male and female germ cells in reproduction, macroalgaes have male and female germ cells which makes it Sexual reproduction.

*remembers 7th grade biology studing worms which does both, Asexual and Sexual reproduction.
