    I suppose that this is how it eats ? Is it normal that they are out extended almost all the time like that ? And they only come from that one area

    they only come out on one area on one of mine also... interested as to what people have to say about that

    It looks to me like that area gets less light therefore less photosynthesis. It is being more usefull by filter feeding than trying to catch light.

    +1 to above, i did a lil study on this about 4 months ago. I had half of a favia colony and half of an acan colony in shade and the other half of each colony(still all one piece for each coral) in decent-high amount of light. The shaded parts almost always had there feeders out while the lighted areas never(or VERY LITTLE) had there feeders out. Both parts of the colony stayed extremely healthy.

    It really is a beautiful piece!! Mine is shaping up well and hopefully will look as good as yours one day......It was pretty banged up when I got it. Finally starting the heal around the edged (pic is a couple weeks old now)

    yeah I was lucky enough to get a nice piece from my LFS.
    Do they eventually grow larger ? And how do they do so ? Does the skeleton grow or do they grow on the LR ? sorry for the noob questions
