    welcome Trent

not sure about this, but is it possible its colors are related to the presence of an established Scopas in the reef?
was it in a tank of other Scopas Tangs, could it have been bullied at that time thus lightened its colors in responce?

as you know, because like me, you also watch nature programmes on the Discovery channel I bet?
in many creatures coloration is reduced in intensity so as not to be percieved as a threat to the existing heirachy

be interesting to see what if anything would happen to the colors if it where on its own

it may be the fish lightened in reaction to conditions at the LFS , conditions that you may not have observed
and has maintained that coloration upon introduction to a tank with AN other Scopas Tang in ?

Could be Steve. The store got it in on 5/14 and it has been this color since day one. I finally bought it yesterday.
It's healthy, eats everything, and interacts with the other tang well

Wow that is a unique fish. My LFS has a Yellow Tang that is almost white in coloring too. Scopas have almost as great of a variation as mimic tangs so I think you have a gem Trent! I bet some enthusiast would give you a boat load of money for that tang if you went that way!

Thanks for sharing I love tangs!
