wow, thats great info! seems like the cheapy IO salt stands up very well! just a little concerned that 1 batch tested at 503mg/l and the other tested at 246mg/l, pretty sure that not an acceptable amount of variation...go to know all the same!

Nice Find. I'll have to watch for phosphate spikes with my instant ocean.

Thanks everyone I thought it was really good info and people here would find it useful. The test seem to be completely unbias and through in testing many salt mixes in a controlled environment.

Ah, I've seen this test before. The two problems I have with it are the lack of followup, and the lack of batch testing of the salts.

By followup, I mean this should be the kind of thing tested frequently. Salt makers cahnge their processes and raw ingredients, and thus change the final composition of their salt, somewhat frequently.

The batch testing is an issue when dealing with buying a bucket, then mixing up only a 1 liter portion of salt. You don't know what the test results would be for the full batch. The bucket may have a trace like aluminum in very small quantities, to the point of it being a grain in the whole bucket. Getting, or not getting, that grain in the sample affects the test results dramatically, and it can happen for any portion of the batch size sold. In other words, the buckets are mixed with the bucket size meant to be mixed at once for proper consistency, not with cup fulls.

Generally, this is useful, though. Just not as rigorous as it lets off.
