I bought three dispar anthias day before yesterday, day one they were all swimming in one area together towards the top middle back part of the tank. The largest of the 3 since yesterday morning decided to stick itself head first into a rock, when I looked with a flashlight, I could see it was still alive and well, just sittin head first in a rock, today all day it was also in the rock but in a different position, I kinda poked and it changed position so I know its still alive, the other two anthias have been in the upper right corner of the tank hanging around the heater and havent seen them eat very much if anything, they seem to go after tiny stuff from the rods food. None of the other fish are picking on them. Will the one fish in the rock come out eventually or starve itself to death in the rock and can I expect them to move away from the corner eventually. First time with anthias? I was thinkin to maybe add 3 green chromis as well

Anthias are zooplankton feeders, prefer generally lower light levels, the one in hiding may come out but it is hard to say.

I agree with 2in10. I'd also add though that antias are typically very active, so this is not normal, but they may just be adjusting. Also, hanging around a heater can be a sign of disease. So, definitely keep an eye on them. Are they in a qt tank? It may not be bad to have one going in case. Also, I would not add any chromis for a while. Definitely make sure the anthias are healthy and doing well first. Also, the anthias should be fed at least a few times a day. So, you'll also want to give your biological filter some time to adjust before adding more fish anyways.

Well they arent constantly in the corner like a sick fish, they are prety active but seem to stay in one area of the tank, but again its only day 3, im not really too worried about these 2. The only time they really go right into the corner by the heater is when Im up by the tank or the fish are in a feeding frenzy. My main concern is really the one fish thats hiding. No signs of disease in the the other 2, seem to be healthy. I just hope that third one decides to come out eventually. I will probably just add a fourth dispar next monday.

I am feeding a couple times a day and have a auto feeder that I have and will put on tomorrow maybe to make it 3 small feeding per day, one or 2 by the feeder and rods at night. Is there any type of food that would be good to feed them?

i think chromis are a good fish to have in your tank. i feel they make other fish seem at ease since they are out swimming around all the time. the bartlett anthias is said to be one of the easier of anthias to keep. i have the three would have had more if i could fit them but im limited with a smaller tank. i do feed 3 times a day most days. i feed all frozen foods. rods is one of them its great, since its a mix, plus i feed other frozen foods i like to give the fish a large variety.

So today that third anthia finally joined the other 2, hes still the most skittish while the other 2 are coloring up nicely from the rods and selcon and eating well, the third one is starting to eat too but they still spend most of the time in one area of the tank. Hopefully once this third one gets a little more comfortable they will be more active throughout the tank and its the biggest of the three so he needs to man up and become a "male"
