I am starting to build my new 125g. 48x30x18. It will have about 200lbs of rock and 2" sand bend (+ 50g fuge with DSB and cheato/LR).

I am thinking that after tank is cycled and established (4..5 month down the road), i'd like to have a school of anthias fish as my main fish in DT.

I hade a single lyretail in my 55g. I luved that fish. He lasted about a year and then one day just disappeared. I suspect either he died and CUC cleaned him up or my pistol shrimp got him. :(

    In any case:
    - What are you thoughts on small school of anthias in 125g?
    - How many can/should I get?
    - Is it possible to mix several sub-species of anthias? If yes, would they school together?
    - What other sub-species besides lyretail would you suggest?
    - Any suggestions for care?

    Thank you.

Mine have always stayed very vivid under intense lighting. I' found several feedings per day of small nutritious foods such as cyclopeese to be the key. I've also taken in a few that were extremely pale. And their color returned. They have super high metabolism though and need to eat often. Perfect reef inhabitants otherwise, although, they can be aggressive towards each other.

I have an auto-feeder than can dispense flakes, but other than that I am not at home between 7:30 and 6. How do you feed them during the day?

Ehiem auto feeder feeds 3x per day. Filled with freeze dried cyclopeese and some crushed up krill and mysis. Sometimes some pellets.
