well this fish was my newest addition..added about a month and a half ago. he was a purple square anthias. i fed the tank once a day but i made special feedings for him 2-3 times daily. he ate awesome so i dont think it was a starvation issue.had a nitrite problem at 2ppm but that is now down to 0ppm that was my only water quality issue. he was about 4 inches long. didnt see any1 picking on him or anything.he was kind of reclusive. but i found him behind my rock with his mouth gaping and dead this afternoon :(

NitrITES are poisonous to fish...why was your tank cycling?....you should never have nitrITES once your tank cycles :-/ This was probably the thing that killed him.

he was in 2 ppm nitrite for only about 2 day in the beginning if that. i believe it was because my huge cleaner wrasse died in the tank and i couldnt get him. the tank is alittle over a year old.no signs of any illness or parasites externally.

Anthias are known for being pretty hard to keep. Probably had nothing to do with you or your tank. Just a sad accident. Again, sorry!

I plan on getting an anthias, so I've done quite a bit of reading, and it seems like with the trickier to keep types they last a couple months and then die. I dunno. Also, they tend to do better when kept in harems.
