I have a school of 3 carriberry anthias, ive had them for about a month and a half now and they are always all three together. I know that one of them will morph into a male so i figured thats what this one was doing becuase he hasnt been leaving the rocks lately. WHen i examined him today i noticed a dark spot on his side. It almost looks like another fish rammed his side and now he is bruised, its slightly raised also like a tiny bit of swelling. No damage to the surface of the skin, kinda looks like a blood clot or somthing underneath. Hes hiding constantly though. Anyone know whats going on with him?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Just a guess that is may be parasitic in nature. My other thought would be and injury from another fish. As always a picture if you can get one really helps.

I'm not an expert, but it does sound like something got under its skin. It could be a parasite as suggested by Coralline.
I second the picture request. A picture says more than a thousand words.

If you have some garlic additive for your fish food, try that. Garlic is pretty good at making shy fish hungry and willing to show up for dinner.
