anti syphon hole in return line

    Yes. I see two problems. One is the standpipe is tpp low and will backsiphon until it is exposed to atmosphere. Move it up so the water only has to drop and inch or two ate the most over the wier teeth.
    The other problem is the returns are too low also, you will backsiphon until they are exposed too, thats a lot of water. I would abandon the deep returns and do an up and over. here is a pic of mine also using loc line.

    You can just see the top of the standpipe behind the righthand return. The LoclLine is just below the surface so is exposed to atmosphere and creates an air gap for a foolproof backflow preventer. The standpipe is only an inch or two down so it is also exposed to atmosphere fairly quick. The maximum I can backflow is about 4 gallons worst case.

    yeah I ended up scraping the deep returns,and ran the pipe over the edge.I didnt realize this when I made those returns.We all learn from our mistakes I guess.I have the stand pipe so low because Im toying with this herbie method.I really like how quiet it is and it stops the hot tub effect in the sump
