Hey so I have a current USA orbit, and I went away for a week vacation and just noticed yesterday that only the daylight 10k bulb was coming on. And the antic side is burnt out.

First things first, will my tank be ok for a while?
I have noticed more algae growth, but not sure if its the lights fault. I have no corals, but i do have live rock.

Second. Since I still dont have an answer from current USA heres what I diagnosed. The fan that is on the same circut as the antic bulb doesnt work at all now. When I plug the daylight light into the antic side it just flickers really badly. So my guess is a ballast problem, but why would the ballast also affect the fan?

If you dont have any corals, you should be just fine . As for the elec. problem, not sure, but maybe they share the elec. cord.

there both probably on the same line. youll have to take it apart to find out, or depending on new it is have them send a replacement while this one is fixed.

maybe a circuit isnt being completed for some reason. That would make bothe not work. As for flickering, the ballast probably tries to fire up the bulb and when it swiches to a regulated voltage for bulb, circuit somehow gets broken..... them ballasts are so complicated to a 14 year old.....lol

The light fixture is about a year and a half old now, meaning no auto replacement. So do you think i should take it apart? and just start fiddling? I am semi comfortable with pulling electronics apart, but I dont have a lot of actual knowledge as to how to know whats wrong. My general way would be to just buy a new ballast and bulb pull it apart and try to plug it back together, but that could easily be a waste of money. Current USA by the way is awful about replying to emails. I really wish they would respond and let me know what they suggest.
