Jwin, If you had squash the way I make it, you would surely like it.

    It's like candy.

I have a couple raised beds but I'm really excited about the fruit trees! The two bare roots I planted two days ago are already budding. Now if I can only get this stump out so I can finish planting.

I found having a garden to be a very relaxing hobby now that it is established. In the beginning I dug out about 800 cubic yards of dirt to get rid of the grass and weeds. I then had to replace all that soil and ammend it. It took about a week to do, all in all I figure I moved a total of 1400 cubic yards of dirt and amendments by hand. I found I really like to dig holes with a shovel, it was good physical work.
I still want to see some pictures of other 3reefers gardens.

damn thats a lot of dirt.
I just dug out most of the sand of some old horse shoe pits and raked up a few spots in the yard for basil and onions. I also put in a fruit cocktail tree (2 plumb, apricot, peach and nectarine), 2 pear and 2 peach. I picked the most frost and disease resistant cultivars I could find, so hopefully I wont have to spray.
Next year its berries and dwarf apple espalier along the back fence.
    and chickens?

I wish I could do something like that. That sounds great, theres nothing like fresh eggs in the morning, and that fruit cocktail tree sounds really cool, I never heard of one of those.

Here are pictures of about half of my mom's garden. I help her with it during the summers. These gardens are to the side/back of the house, but she has raised beds all over the yard.

Your mother has a beautiful yard. Thanks for sharing those photos. Is that in Washington? The trees in the background really add to the beauty.

It's actually am Ina Garten (funny since this is a garden thread) recipe. Yes I watch food network and am not afraid to say it. Eating good food is very manly, and cooking good food is a chick magnet;) It may not be the most healthy way to eat squash, but it is very good tasting. I've made this recipe like 4 times so far and it is amazing and simple.

Kacy's Mom's garden is amazing. No man points deducted. Carry a chihuahua in a handbag and you will be deducted points though;)
