Japanese horseradish. If you eat sushi, it's that green paste.

Neti-pots, hmmm. Man I must not be as bad as I thought, because I am not sure I am willing to go that route. How often do you have to do it?

I will for sure try the honey though, excellent idea.

Wasabi, is a Japanese paste, used on sushi. Good stuff and boy it will clear your head like no tomorrow. I love the stuff. Goes well on fish tacos too.

    Thanks banabobcock,

I had no idea there were so many sufferers. I guess I should have bought stock in Allergy medications. Pollen count for Tucson and surrounding area high for the next week. I can only guess in fear what a extreme high pollen count would do to me.
    :)

Well let's consider the control factors here:

    You were fine in Cali.

    You suffer in Ariz.

What is different between the two?

Obviously humidity, plant life, (a major factor) and depending where in Cali, average temp.

    What have I missed?

Oh it's the move for sure, the MD told me that it's very common for people that were not raised in AZ to have real issues with the local pollens. Right now the pollen dust is thick on the ground and the wind comes up every afternoon.
It's very pretty here with everything blooming this time of year, but I looks at flowers in horror now.

OK then, so we - you , know what the concern is, now you need to find something to conrol it- perhaps a few blood tests and then the right medication to aliviate the symptoms? I didnt see previously where you have done this. But man my hot tub and a hot shower, and then when I have them from my garden- various peppers, they work wonders.

I am like you, I hate the side effects.

    ^^^ This.
    Go see an allergist.

My boyfriend's allergies got so bad last year that he rubbed his eyes raw and his arms and face actually broke out in a rash...from sinus allergies! DFW is one of the worst allergy locations in the nation. He had been taking so much over-the-counter allergy medicine that his heart was always pounding. The rashes were the last straw. The PrimaCare facility gave him a steriod shot and recommended a doctor to him.

They did the panel on his back (he's allergic to pretty much everything), then they did an 8 hour IV drip on him and he's been doing the shots for many months now & is about to go down to every other week with those. He has a pill and 2 nasal sprays, as well, that he has to take every night. His quality of life is soooo much better now. He'll still sneeze sometimes after mowing the lawn, but not like he was. He's a lot happier now.

When I wake up, at least one nostril no longer works. Doing the neti-pot in the other nostril starts to open up the completely clogged one. Then I can do it in the clogged one too. I will do it before bed sometimes too but you have to put some planning into it. If you use the pot and then lay right down, you will taste salt. Contrary to what you would think, 99% of the liquid leaving your other nostril is just saltwater. After you're done and have to blow your nose, that's when the snot comes into play.

However, even if you're not congested yet but "sneezy", use a neti-pot, and the sneeziness goes away. I'm guessing it's flushing out the pollen and molds.

I sent water to my ears one time with the neti when my sinuses where full. The water had nowhere to go. The water went in...... and nothing came out.

I have suffered all my life with allergies. Desensitization shots did not work as my allergies just went on to something else. I endured 5 scratch tests because my allergies rotated so I just quit taking the shots. Seeing an allergist my help you.

I rotate OTC allergy medicines to keep from acclimating to one and use the non-drowsy formulas during the daytime.

Keep your nasal passages moist, most likely the membranes are drying out and making the situation worse.
