Any Carpenter/finishers out there??? Tiling a countertop

    lol, thanks for the help guys... i knew i could count on my fellow reefers! Isn't it sad that my thread on the DIY board had no action all day but i could get the answers i needed from a reef forum! So here's my current plan...
    1. Get the bathroom sink installed so we have a working sink in the house!
    2. Remove old sink, clean off the counter and sand down any remaining glue from the old laminate application.
    3. Seal with Oil Based Killz
    4. Mortar apply the Water proofing/De-coupling material
    5. Tile counter
    6. Walk around the house with a big ole grin on my face for a week going to my wife every 5 min, "Doesn't it look great!" (I did that with the bathroom... think she got tired of it real quick)

    Oh, and #6... i did the same thing with the Flame angel i added last week... pretty sure that annoyed her too :)

    sounds like an interesting Idea since I need to redo my kitchen ::) so I would like to see pics when yas get done and some before and afters. PLEASE!!!!! and yea laminate is crazy

    Too bad you don't live closer, I own a granite countertop company. I give reefers a good deal. ;)

    dang... I did manage to get a decent deal on a remnant for the bathroom. two sink 63x22 for 200. Had to buy the sinks too but still walked away pretty cheep.

    without backerboard your grout will eventually crack and tiles will start popping, i'd use quarter inch backer on the plywood for a long lasting counter. epoxy grout is a great idea too, never have to worry about it. 18 years exp. just my opinion

    Hmmm... Peachy...well enough people are saying backer board that I think I may have to do that...
