Yes, there are beam/poles that you can get that go from the floor to the ceiling. This will help hold the added pressure on the floor. In your house where your putting thing. Where? Can you take a picture? Do you know the messurements of the area around it? The measurement around where your going to put your tank will have something to do with it. However like stated before I dont think that 75gallon will do much. But to be safe you can add the beam. If you have a well open area and you put it in the center... thats when you have probs. But if you put it next to the wall less likely to be unsupported and more likly to be able to withstand much force. If the tank is going in a small room area I wouldnt worry at all.

 

You can get an adjustable metal support post (dont remember exactly what they are called) but that will do the job for sure. But im still pretty sure you dont need to go through all that trouble.

Just put the tank perpendicular to the joists underneath and you should be fine. I've put much more on much older homes.

If you want excellent peace of mind you can go to a home improvement store and buy two floor jacks to place under the joists the tank sits over and you definitely don't have anything to worry about. Last time I bought them they were around $35 each.

ok i drew this up kind of cheesy but hope u guys will understand it.
the the blue part is the tank and the red running cross the tank is the additional joist im thinking of putting in and the black dots with yellow boarder is the floor jacks run vertical from basemant floor up to the the tank section what do u guys think make sense??

 

The wood in the floor are called joists. If your joists are 24" apart then I would just place one more joist in between each one if you have access to the floor through the basement. You would only need 3 floor joist to complete this and it would stay up in the floor and you would not have any ugly posts or beams in the basement. Floor joist 12" on center would more than be enought to hold your tank and nephew.

the joists is 24 inch apart so by adding one more in between is probably the best way to go, nice and easy. but ill probably going to add a post or two it doesnt really matter how the basement looks its for storage . well thanks guys for all ur input and ideas. +1 to everyone in this post. thanks again
