Any chance that this isn't a lost cause?

Got this brain coral last week for next to nothing, it's been getting worse and worse since I got it. Params are good, started out on bottom in indirect light from my 150w mh. Tried target feeding since I got it but no dice. Nothing that I can tell bugging it. Lost cause?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Yeah unfortunately it looks like a goner to me.

When you say parameters are good do you have values for Ca/Alk?

Looks like it's bleached based on whats left of it.

I'd give it some light and see what happens, indirect light ain't working, but good luck.

    Tested tonight....
    1.024 sg, 8ph, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 0 nitrate, calcium 420, kh 9, 0 phosphate

And by indirect I meant on the sand not shaded but off to the side of the tank, I guess it's still pretty direct

dont give up!! After hurricane sandy my tank went south for a little while and i had two plates that were dead, i mean dead, like you couldn't see any tissue at all on them, buuuuuutt, i read somewhere to just leave them and they might come back, now look...30 mini plates! the other plate has some but not as many...It looked exactly like your brain, got worse and then after a month or two I noticed super small neon dots w/ actinics. now they are perfect little circles....still unsure how I am going to frag them...

FYI - this is common with Fungia. They are called anthocauli. I don't know if other corals such as brains will do the same though. I haven't heard about it myself.

dont ever toss the skeleton of a dead coral..........it still has tissue. I have seen worse things come back over time. Doesnt look very promising but can happen I had a war scoly up and die on me, didnt see any tissue on it and a couple months later developed a perfectly small baby one around the mouth area

It is actually looking worse since then. But I'll just wait it out and see what happens
