I am in the process of making a 20 long sump/fuge. I will have the overflow split to the sock/skimmer section on the left and the refugium on the right, and having both spill into the center return section.
    (SKIMMER l RETURN l REFUGIUM)
I will have the line going to the refugium section with a ball valve so I can adjust the flow of water through the refugium.
The greatest volume of water will be the return section and this is where you will see the loss of water from evaporation. Tripple baffles will be between skim/return section and all baffles will be ~ 8" tall.

I have a 20 gallon for sump, just went with the regular design of a refugium/ baffle / return area / bubble trap / protein skimmer section

the height of your baffles will be determined by the protein skimmer and how big you want your refugium

Just remember, ALL of the system's water loss from evaporation will manifest in the return section of the sump. Make sure you do not skimp in height of baffles, you can always lift the skimmer with a stand and have a deeper sandbed in the 'fuge.
Likewise, you want to be sure that the sump can handle the backflow of water when the system shuts down.
