I've decided on majoring in engineering in school. Mechanical Engineer specifically. Looks, to me, mathematics is the hardest part of getting an engineering degree.

i just finished my degree in Chemical and process engineering and yes it was a lot of maths. If you enjoy maths you will enjoy it.

computer engineer here, not counting the gen ed crap, its like 80% math (or science like physics which is really just math with a another name) and 20% procedures/processes (i.e how/when to use the math for best results)

Eh, I don't like math, but, as the biggest hurdle, seems to be fairly easy to me. What do you plan on doing with a chemical engineering degree? Congratulations by the way, how long did it take you? I plan on blazing straight through math. I just finished my first term of math and will be skipping the next scheduled course.

If you don't like math, engineering may not the best choice for you. Having said that, you still can become an engineer with weak math but you will have to work harder on your math. I'm electrical engineer and I don't have to do higher level math everyday:juggle2: but have to understand them to make scene of what I'm doing. :book2:

This might help. I hated and sucked at math growing up because I didn't understand what is truly is, which is the language of the universe. Once it clicked, it's been a breeze ever since. Try thinking of it as another language, except its one that describes the motion of a projectile, area under a curve, or the load vectors that hold up a bridge. Instead of your name, where you live and that you have a red bike. Know what I'm saying?

Thanks. I took 3 yrs and one semester. You don't really have to like maths, once you are willing to put in the work, which I am sure you are, you will be fine. It would be more enjoyable if you liked maths though. There are a lot of other aspects to engineering but in the classroom it mostly boils down to mathematical equations. We basically had to model situations into equations, using engineering concepts, then solve the equations. It's kinda fun once you get a proper method down.
I'm going to be working at one of the energy companies here. Hopefully at Petrotrin's refinery.( local oil company) I interned there twice so I should be able to enter their graduate program.

    Gotcha!

Eh, I'm just indifferent to math. I'll be good at it though.
    Gotcha!

My brother majored in mechanical engineering....I remember a lot of math, but he never complained about it. The math was used in lot of different classes and contexts, so it wasn't just "boring" equations all day long.
