Trigger jobs are pretty common. It reduces the take up and reset. Much shorter pull. And a 4 lb trigger. The take up length on XDs are the only thing I don't like.

Springer Precision is where I did it. Great guy. And if you didn't know, here is everything you need for the XD

Not sure how much you're looking to spend but I had an H&K USP .40 and I loved it. The 1911s are nice and I also had an S&W 909 that was pretty cheap and a decent gun. I've only had a few handguns though most of my experience is in assault rifles and tactical shotguns.

Well Sara, I cant speak for all, but I will tell you that I dont have any complexes about my "little" sport car(if you know what I mean). B/c at the end of the day, it wasnt designed to kill anyone, just to have fun;D.
All my "toys" are just that...........toys. They are not in any way to compensate for anything. BTW, I enjoy "driving" both.:p

The OP asked for opinions from gun owners, not the whining of people who are against owning firearms. To each their own, there are very valid points on both sides of the issue. Personally I would rather own one and know how to use it in the event that it came down to that type of situation. Anyway back on topic, if you disagree with the man purchasing a gun write your congressman dont whine up the entire thread.

"When seconds count, cops are only minutes away." As ReefSparky said on a similar firearm thread, "I carry a weapon because I love my wife very much. And if she's not with me, I love life very much." Or something like that. If you ask me, that has nothing to do with compensation of anything.

I'm taking a First Aid and CPR class simply because you can't rely on Police Officers or Ambulances to arrive on scene in a fast enough time. Sure, they try their best. But sometimes an ambulance can take 20 or 30 minutes to arrive in a simple city building (I've heard a story of an Ambulance getting lost). So I'm taking a First Aid and CPR class to help save myself or others around me. So why not carry a weapon if you feel you should, or would like to? If you're ever in a situation where you need to have a firearm drawn and in view of everyone around you, I highly doubt you'll be able to get a phone out, dial some numbers, have a nice chat with the dispatcher, and then wait 5-20 minutes for experts to arrive. Something bad could be happening, or already has happened if you're in that situation. You might as well prepare yourself as best as you can.

The only people who stereotype gun owners are people who have never owned a gun. That's my opinion, but so far it seems to be rather accurate.

Of course, views on guns can be determined by your environment you grew up/live in. If you're in the middle of freakin' nowhere, where going down an alley and having the barrel of a firearm plastered to your forhead for the paper in your wallet is not only unlikely, and darn near impossible to happen. But, if you live in the city where crime plays a huge part, why would you NOT want to protect yourself? Even a slimline Glock subcompact (Glock 36, I think?) is the size of...well...something very small. But it packs a punch. So even if you only wanted something to protect yourself, you could have something very small and very effective for a decent amount of cash, but in return you get a huge peace of mind.

Personally, I'm not old enough to own a handgun. I have about 1 year and 3 months before that happens. But I've got a nice CO2 pistol that I routinely pop cans with, I have my trusted baby, a Gamo Shadow Break-Barrel pellet rifle, that can send a gold alloy pellet through the air at the speed of a shotgun shell, can put a grouping at 50 yards in the size of a quarter, and has a variable power (up to 9x mag) scope sighted to 50 yards :D And then I have a Savage Arms 20gauge/.22 over-under next to my bed :) We had a 9mm, but my parents got rid of it because it apparently wasn't ours. We just found it in the house when we moved in (dang it...missing a freebie because I was 7 years old).

I hope my comments don't get me in trouble. But those are my views from a gun enjoying person to a gun-disliker. This is a strong topic for me :)

Hmmm, I'm a female who likes to drive fast cars and just ordered a new recoil spring assembly for my Ruger. Should I be worried? :)
