    ok im trying to replace a clutch in my gfs car. i took it all apart and put it back together 3 times now. the clutch pedal wont go down more than 2 inches and the car wont start because of it. i dont get it. i did it all by the book consulted the dealership and i just dont get it. anyone? oh its a 2000 2001 hyundai elantra 5sp.

    This won't be the answer you are looking for right now, but will be after you get it and in the future.

    Buy the manual the techs have. I have one for all of my cars. It has all the information in it you need, how to remove, replace, rebuild, and install anything. You can find them on ebay.

    If the pedal cannot be pressed down more than two inches something is definitely wrong. Did you use factory parts in your repairs? A lot of times aftermarket parts will differ slightly.

    Could be lots wrong...clutch disc not aligned,disc not facing the right direction(I've seen it), hydraulics not bled properly, throwout bearing binding on shaft or installed incorrectly.

    it was aftermarket from advanced auto. im taking it apart for the 4th time in the mourning to see if i can figure it out. ive got till 5 oclock n the snow is gonna hit. its been like 20-30 degrees the last week n this really sucks lol

    Shot in the dark...never worked on a hyundai but i believe there is a clutch safety switch mounted under the clutch check that?
