Any idea what this is?

Any idea what I got growing here? Its green and a slow grower, lil faster than spa. Seems rigid but I haven't touched it to find out. Thanks!

 

neomeris sp., aka spindle weed. pretty cool looking kind of algae. Most people say its quite hard to keep, however my nano was overgrown with the stuff for a few months a while back

 

That would be a pretty neat addition to a sump. It looks calcareous though. Might us eup too much calc.

 

good observation it is indeed calcareous based, thats where the difficulty comes from. i see several Sps out there so it will be competing for calcium.

iv read cases of peoples tanks become overrun with them but it seems to be a rare case

 

Generally speaking, Neomeris rarely lives very long in reef setups. The water is "too clean".

However, if it worries you, reach in and pluck it out.

 

I'm not really stressing it right now, but too many start popping up ill pull them out.
