    This is a friend's fish. One day it was below the lateral line and the next it was above. You can see the mark it left from the day before.

    Possibly a fluke- a marine flatworm of which some species are parasitic.

    Yeah, flukes or an isopod. I can't think of any other parasite that might do that.
