This is a follow up to my las thread. There seems to be many of us that use overflow U Tubes that cause air bubble traps over time leading to less flow to sump and/or extra gurggling sounds. Karma will be abundent to the genius that solves this one. Thanks.

increase the flow from your return pump.

You can increase the flow from your return (easy if you have a knob on your pump)
You can get rid of those 2 utubes for 1 larger one. 1.5" would probably do the trick.

I just keep a piece of airline with a check valve stuck in the u-tube and if it gets too much air in there I use my mouth and suck it out - just like when I set it up.

main problem with that is if your power goes out and the return stops. When the power is restored, it is not going to continue the siphon because that airline tubing.

Guys, I'm a little confused. First I don't have a turn knob on my in sump pump, (if that's what you mean). Are you saying I should have a pump in my HOB overflow box! Sorry if this sounds dumb but i must fix this problem. I do have a small sump pump, could that be the problem, however this seems to have gotten worse when I added my refugium and/or the 4 #4 Koralias. I'm stumped.
