    Hey Guys and Gals,

Have had this thing in my tank since shortly after I got it started up, been over 4 years now.. Anyways, it came in on a rock of zoas I picked up, noticed it shortly after I got it. It eventually got covered up as the zoas spread and I just forgot about it. About a month ago, the zoas around it kinda thinned out and this thing showed up bigger than ever before. I really have no idea what it might be, maybe some kind of shroom or something? It's very sensitive to any noises, if I move the lid around on the tank it reacts right away and seems to want to shrink but then comes right back. Any ideas what it might be?

Looking like a plate coral, maybe fungia. A nice hitchhiker for sure!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Agreed.

Initially they are secured to rock by a little stalk, hence Fungia (looks like a mushroom).

Something about the mouth of it is now catching my attention. all the fungia I have seen have a straight "slit" if you will. The mouth on this kinda looks like a mushroom or something.....

You can also see between the two pics that the edge has changed shape- the skeleton of a plate can't do that. :D Definitely a mushroom, possibly from the Rhodactis genus. Still a very nice hitch hiker.

The edges of the expanded tissue easily can.

It's definitely a Fungia (plate coral).

Try to feed it. Depending on how it eats could confirm what it is. Take pics when you feed it to.

    *my vote is fungia*
